Material Modelling - Week 4

3D 'Explosion'.

The 3D Balsa Wood Model, was an extension of the notion of 'Solitude' which was the word I had selected for my A2 Collage. Within this collage, I had also reflected upon the aspect of spatiality which was for me, the concept that I needed to improve on. Also within the collage was a small exploration of the properties and techniques of balsa wood, however, this exploration remained fairly constrained to suit the minimalist nature of the collage. The interplay of light and shadow within the model was particularly significant in representing the notion of reflection so integral to one's understanding of the word 'solitude'. The clean lines are indicative of the tranquility and peace one may find on their journey to a state of solitude whilst the general spatial layout of the model engages with the contrasting states of confinement yet a sense of freedom, and boundless opportunity.

Material Modelling Week 3

Body, Space, City.

Model exploring the notion of verticality within the city and the horizontality of movement that is embedded within our understanding of it. Materials include found objects and playdough.

Material Modelling Week 2

Week 2 - Text and Form Intertwined

A model exploring the notion of fluidity and restriction; the blurring of distinction between inside and outside space. (Zaha Hadid, Bach Pavillion, Walter Benjamin, Reflections).

Week 3 - Body Space and City

Architecture in Motion - Final Animation

This is my final animation exploring the bold presence of sold, geometric forms within the Red Centre and how this interacts and contrasts with the glazing throughout the building.
