The Black Box

I was particularly drawn to this slide due to the fantastic manipulation of light and colour tones. It really reflects the approach I have been taking to my laboratory spaces. The use of colour intensity is something I have been working with as in my opinion; it can dramatically influence a space in a manner which the other elements of design simply can’t. One of the key themes within my laboratory space for Jacques Cousteau is that of exploration and a sense of focus on the journey itself, rather than the final destination. The image contains a structure that could well be attributed to this explorative concept. Yet what I find fascinating is how the simple arrangement of varying light tones has really enhanced this notion and furthered it in its synthesis of a seductiveness that I don’t think could be replicated in any other way.
